Maycee Barber, one of the brightest young prospects of UFC’s women’s flyweight division, is out of UFC 269.

Barber, who sits at #13 in the UFC rankings, will not make it to her fight against Erin Blanchfield on December 11, 2021. The reason for her withdrawal has not been disclosed yet. As of now, Blanchfield is still on the card as the UFC is trying to look for a replacement.

‘The Future’ recently snapped her two-fight losing streak against Miranda Maverick. It was a controversial split decision win for her, as 22 of 22 media outlets had scored the bout as a win for Maverick.

This is the second time the UFC has made a change to this fight. Earlier, Barber was supposed to take on Montana De La Rosa, but ‘Monty’ withdrew from the fight because of an injury. The UFC brought in Blanchfield as a replacement, but now, they’ll have to look for an opponent for her.

‘Cold Blooded’ made her UFC debut earlier this year at UFC Fight Night 192. She won the fight via a unanimous decision. Blanchfield is currently on a four-fight win streak and would look to add to the streak.

As people are looking forward to the event, and are hyped about it, it would’ve been a great place for Barber to showcase her skills and impress the UFC matchmakers.

Given Barber’s ranking, an impressive performance at UFC 269 would’ve definitely helped her push for bigger fights in 2022.
