The coveted UFC star, Jon Jones, had his last UFC bout in the Light Heavyweight division. But the story of UFC 285 is completely different. After his last bout at UFC 247, ‘Bones’ went on a break to fulfill his long-announced wish of fighting as a heavyweight. With the UFC 285 knocking at the door, it has been confirmed that fans will get to see their beloved ‘Bones’ inside the ring. But, a chunk of fans might still be worried about how many pounds would ‘Bones’ carry inside the octagon in his UFC Heavyweight debut.

Well, the pre-bout weigh-ins had the answer to all such questions from the fans. To the relief of the fans, ‘Bones’ comfortably stayed within the Heavyweight limit at the weigh-ins. All other UFC 285 fighters also had smooth weigh-ins except the UFC Bantamweight, Mana Martinez, and Welterweight Geoff Neal. Both missed their weight by quite some margin and were also subjected to a hefty penalty due to their failure.

The famed ‘MMA Mania’ put out this news on their Twitter page. They also captioned their post with the noted Jon Anik’s words in the background, “248 for Jon Jones!”

It’s pertinent to note that Jones weighed 17 pounds less that the permitted weight of 265 lbs.

Although he had the time to recover some of his weight, a portion of fans might fear that this might work to ‘Bones’s’ disadvantage.

What penalty did the UFC decide for Mana Martinez and Geoff Neal?

Martinez weighed in at 137 pounds at the UFC 285 weigh-ins, which had a startling penalty levied on him by the UFC. He would have to give away 30% of his fight purse to his opponent, Cameron Saaiman.

The UFC Welterweight, Geoff Neil, also faced the same fate as he, too, would be paying 30% of his fight purse to his opponent Shavkat Rakhmonov. The American came four pounds overweight than the UFC Welterweight limit.

Some of the noted coverage houses also shared this news, including ‘The Schmo’. They published this news on their Twitter handle writing, “Mana Martinez misses weight at 137 and will not be attempting to cut the final pound #UFC285”.
