A commentary team can make or break a UFC event for the millions of people watching at home. It is quite common to see one of the first things being discussed online after a UFC event being the commentary team, with fans calling out one particular commentator or the other for their allegedly unfair commentary.

And as UFC 298, headlined by a much-awaited clash between featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski and Ilia Topuria, inches closer, the commentary team for the event has been announced and fans are already up in arms about it.

According to reports, the commentary team for UFC 298 on February 17 in Anaheim, California, will feature the UFC’s long-time lead commentator, Jon Anik. He will be joined by former champion Michael Bisping in the commentary booth.

And in good news for fans, Joe Rogan will be back in the booth to call UFC 298 after his absence at UFC 297 due to it not being held in America and Rogan having decided not to travel for overseas UFC events. Notable for his absence is Daniel Cormier, who usually calls major UFC PPVs along with Anik and a third commentator, usually Rogan. And fans took to social media to let their thoughts on the UFC 298 commentary team known.

Hi, I am Kanishk and I am a UFC Writer at EssentiallySports. I love telling the stories of these magnificent fighters and this wildly unpredictable sport that is so frustrating and yet so joyous at the same time. I never really used to watch MMA, thinking it too crude or brutal a sport to deserve respect.
