The much-awaited clash between Dustin Poirier and Benoit Saint-Denis at UFC 299 has now been called off. Both the fighters were looking to face each other but now will have to wait before their next match-up. Brett Okamoto recently took to Twitter to share the details of the fight and explain why the fight has been called off. The pair suffered no injuries during the training but still had to call off the fight.

According to Okamoto, the fight was called off as there was no contractual agreement before the fight, and hence could not come to terms. Dustin Poirier also took to his Twitter, and his recent tweet “fights off” has shattered the fans. The much awaited clash in the lightweight division was supposed to be a blockbuster as the winner would have inched forward towards a title clash. Will the UFC be able to line up the fight again?

Fans go wild after Dustin Poirier calls off his fight against Benoit Saint-Denis

UFC 299 was all set to entertain the fans, as #3 ranked Dustin Poirier was all set to take on hyped lightweight Benoit Saint-Denis. ‘God of War’ has taken the lightweight division by storm after his recent performances. He currently holds a record of 13-1-0 and is working his way towards the lightweight title. Denis was last seen inside the Octagon at UFC 295, where he faced Matt Frevola. He won the fight via TKO in the first round itself. The 28-year-old impressed everyone with his performance thus earning a fight against Dustin Poirier at UFC 300.
