Capping off an excellent week in combat sports, UFC 299 will take place at the Kaseya Center in Florida, Miami on Saturday. Headlined by Sean O’Malley‘s first bantamweight title defense, the card is full of exciting matchups from top to bottom. The card will see some consequential fights, especially in the bantamweight division, which will definitely get a new title challenger in the Petr Yan vs. Yadong Song bout and potentially even a new champion in the O’Malley-Vera main event fight. As the clock ticks down to the mega-card, let us take a look at the songs the stars are likely to walk out to.

Which song will the main and co-main event stars walk out to?

Sean O’Malley will look to avenge the only loss in his career in his rematch with Marlon ‘Chito’ Vera on UFC 299 tonight. ‘Suga’, who has become one of the most recognizable stars in the UFC because of his showmanship and flamboyance, has been using the song ‘Superstar’ by Lupe Fiasco in his previous few fights and is likely to go with it tonight.

The song is said to be a semi-autobiographical account of Fiasco’s rise to fame and the difficulties that came along. This number is the Chicago rapper’s highest-charting single in the US and the UK. Perhaps O’Malley resonates with the song. After all, his rise to becoming the UFC champion wasn’t easy. His journey from Dana White’s Contender Series to the UFC title was a long one.

‘Chito’ on the other hand, has used various songs in his career and had walked out to DJ Khaled’s ‘Where You Come From’ in his last fight at UFC 292. Meanwhile, Benoit Saint-Denis, taking on Dustin Poirier in the most important fight of his career, will almost definitely walk out to the tune of ‘Les Commados’, which is a tribute to his time in the French Special Forces.

The ‘Diamond’, who will be making his thirtieth octagon appearance, will have to prove if he belongs at the top of the lightweight division once again after his recent loss of form. The New Orleans native has consistently used the song ‘The Boss’ by James Brown in many of his previous fights and is likely to continue with it on UFC 299. It was released in 1973 and Brown’s own life inspired this song. He struggled to make his space in an industry that was dominated by big names. He wanted to empower his listeners.

Which songs will the other stars walk out to?

Former lightweight champion Petr Yan will look to bounce back from his recent losses and take on  #7 ranked Yadong Song, a victory over who would help him reclaim his place at the top and get back in the 145-pound title mix. The Russian has used different songs for his walkouts including ‘Stem For the Belt’ by Noggano. Noggano or Basta is a Russian rapper and film producer.

Former welterweight title contender Gilbert Burns is scheduled to face undefeated phenom Jack Della Maddalena in another fight that will see the winner get into the title mix for their division. Burns walks out to the song ‘Medley’ by Buchecha, which is likely to be his choice at UFC 299.
