After such long anticipation by MMA fans across the world, Dana White has officially announced the main event for the historic UFC 300 event. The event will be headlined by the newly crowned UFC light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira taking on the former champion, Jamahal Hill.

Given that White had held out on announcing the main event for quite some time, the world was curious to know the reason as to why. In a recent interview, the title challenger revealed when and how the fight came into existence.

Jamahal Hill talks about how his UFC 300 main event came to fruition

In a recent interview with TNT Sports, the former UFC light heavyweight champion revealed how he agreed to fight at the UFC 300 event. Hill’s comments on how the deal was made were a little shocking. Here is what he said in the interview.

Hill told TNT sports, “We actually just got on the phone and got the deal done within the last 24 hours. We just got on the phone and got it done within the last 24 hours. You know, me and Hunter and Dana, we all, we all have a pretty good relationship.”

‘Sweet Dreams’ revealed that he was happy to help the promotion in any way he could. “They call me up let me know the situation. I got what my people like, ‘Yo, can we do this?’ And if I was able to do it and step in and, you know, help the show, save the show, do whatever. I was happy to do that,” explained the former light heavyweight champion.

Jamahal Hill had a pretty amazing performance against Glover Teixeira to win the UFC gold. Now he has the chance to win back the gold he never lost by defeating one of the scariest fighters in the UFC. Alex Pereira’s plans after UFC 300

The UFC light heavyweight champion, Alex Pereira, seems confident that he will successfully defend his light heavyweight strap against Jamahal Hill at UFC 300. ‘Poatan’ even seems to be looking for an immediate title defense at UFC 301 in Rio the following month.

“[Alex] always spoke that he wants to defend the belt in a very fast pace. Now this would be the opportunity, with the cards being so close to each other, for him to be able to defend at UFC 300 and maybe in Rio. [Alex] said that that is a very big possibility because if he doesn’t get hurt, he did this before in kickboxing,” claimed Pereira, talking about his plans after UFC 300.
