Dana White is being questioned ahead of UFC 300. This fight card appears to be one of the biggest sporting events this year given the fighters involved. However, the main event is not confirmed yet and he is still working on it. In a recent interview, Jon Anik, the play-by-play UFC commentator, opined the UFC should have announced the main event during the Chiefs vs. 49ers Super Bowl game over the weekend.

However, a former UFC champion would beg to differ and make it known as to why. So let’s wait no further and unwrap who is this champion and his reasoning.

According to Michael Bisping, former UFC middleweight champion, UFC 300 needs no promotion, especially when considering spending $7 million for a Super Bowl ad. The former fighter claimed that the card had many stars featured and therefore sold itself. Hence, he didn’t see the need to promote it during the Super Bowl.

He stated, “They don’t need to spend $7 Million in advertising. The whole world as an MMA fan and even a non-MMA fan very very curious. Of course, Chandler and McGregor, god knows when that is going to happen.”

The aforementioned opinion is quite intriguing. Whether one agrees with his comments or not, it can’t be denied that UFC 300 cannot be scoffed at. However, it bears mention that as of yet it does lack a main event and this delay in announcing might jeopardize the card. That being said, White, recently revealed when fans can expect the announcement.

When is the UFC 300 main event announcement?

This event has been rather hard to conceive given the weight of expectations on it. According to White, he has been working on this for months with a lot of fiascos in the middle. However, he is glad that the majority of the card is finalized. In an interview, he said, “We’ve gone through a lot of crazy sh*t trying to put this fight together. So, it’s been interesting. No date. ASAP is the date [for the announcement].”

Moreover, he hyped up the card saying, “Every fight on the card already could be a main event.” White also added that he was working on the main event and one more fight for the tricentennial event. With the promotion scheduling a UFC 300 Q&A before the ceremonial weigh-ins for UFC 298, fans could finally see the main event announcement sometime this week.
