Israel Adesanya might be the savior that UFC 300 needs, unless of course, Dana White has different plans. ‘Izzy’ has been out of action for over four months now and he’s talked about staying on his vacation numerous times. However, now, perhaps there is a shift in his plans.

Perhaps he and his coach are planning on making a comeback after facing a defeat against Sean Strickland. But once ‘Tarzan’ was beaten, ‘Izzy’ was called out by the new champion, Dricus Du Plessis. Conceivably the ‘Stylebender’ could be considering a return, and maybe, just maybe, it will all play out at UFC 300.

Dana White told the world that his main event for UFC 300 was going to be mind-blowing and then never revealed it. He keeps telling the fans that he’ll reveal it soon but so far, the only thing received by the fandom has been silence. Possibly, Israel Adesanya is what’s on White’s mind.

Adesanya debuted in 2018 and secured a knockout win against Rob Wilkinson at UFC 221. At UFC 236, he took down Kelvin Gastelum to become the interim middleweight champion and eventually, became the undisputed champ. Since then, he’s only ever been stopped by Alex Pereira and Sean Strickland. If he were to come back, would Dricus Du Plessis be a better target for him? At least his coach, Abiola Beckley, might feel that way.

“In 2016 we were begging @danawhite to sign @stylebender to @ufc. Now we begging UFC to get Izzy to save UFC 300. Divine timing.” Beckley wrote on his Instagram story. So, could he come back soon? UFC 300 is promised to be the biggest pay-per-view in recent times and with the stacked card, it already seems to be materializing.

Israel Adesanya was called out by the new champ, Dricus Du Plessis soon as he won the belt. If ‘Stillknocks’ manages to recover from his Strickland fight soon, he can still try and defend his title in April. It would certainly make up for an interesting match and that could be the only way ‘Izzy’ comes back at UFC 300.

Why could ‘Izzy’ not come back unless he fights Du Plessis?

Chael Sonnen believes that the only way Conor McGregor can return to the UFC is if he fights someone for the title. This stands true for everyone including Israel Adesanya. According to Sonnen, policy suggests that the main event should be a title fight.

The bigger the title, the more important the fight. UFC 300 already has some title fights lined up but that only makes it a bigger deal for the main event to have bigger stakes.

That being said, only a title fight could fill the big shoes that need to be filled and with Du Plessis and Adesanya’s storyline set up, perhaps it could happen. Clearly, Adesanya’s team is already trying to get him on the PPV. Will it be the time for him to finally come back?

Nonetheless, this would be the first time Du Plessis would meet ‘Izzy’ in the cage. We are excited and for any further updates, keep an eye out on this space!
