Jamahal Hill is set to take on Alex Pereira at UFC 300! UFC CEO Dana White dropped the announcement for the highly anticipated marquee matchup for the historic card after UFC 298 and he stated, “I can guarantee you that this fight is going to be an absolute drag-out war”, indicating the high stakes involved in the fight for both men.

However, in a recent statement, Hill has seemingly taken offense at his ranking in the light-heavyweight division as he put Alex Pereira and the UFC on notice for his treatment. He also used an interesting comparison to highlight his point as he proclaimed ‘Poatan’ to be just acting as “president” while Hill was out with his injury! 

Jamahal Hill isn’t pleased with the UFC’s treatment of his ‘ranking’ 

In his announcement for the UFC 300 bout between Alex Pereira and Jamahal Hill, UFC boss Dana White proclaimed that Hill would be a dangerous opponent for the Brazilian because, “Like Pereira, he is a world-class kickboxer with serious power.”

There is also history between the pair as Hill won the UFC light heavyweight title by defeating Glover Teixeira, Pereira’s mentor and training partner, at UFC 283 in 2023. But while Hill had to relinquish the belt shortly after due to a severe injury to his Achilles tendon, he still considers himself the ‘true’ champion.

He reiterated his mindset, as in a post shared on X by Championship Rounds, he was quoted as stating, “#1 ranked LHW don’t seem right to me. [I’m] the true champ. I believe there’s a policy, when the president gets sick or he’s dealing with some stuff, the vice president takes over. Although he’s acting as the president, he is not such.”

Hill fires back at fans for claiming his addition to UFC 300 was “disappointing”

Jamahal Hill recently addressed the criticism surrounding the UFC 300 main event announcement. After Dana White revealed that Hill would face light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira, ‘Sweet Dreams’ took note of the mixed reactions from the fans.

As such, speaking on his YouTube channel, he stated, “There’s been a lot of outrage, a lot of disappointment and things like that. To be honest, it’s crazy to me because for the most part, a lot of these people are the same people that have spent the better part of a year or however long calling me ‘cry baby.’”

He went on to further highlight the excitement and intensity he brings to fights and expressed frustration at the negativity surrounding the event. The 32-year-old also dismissed concerns about his health and affirmed his commitment to delivering an electrifying performance. As he prepares for his first fight in over a year, Hill’s statements indicate that he has remained focused on reclaiming the light heavyweight title and showcasing his capabilities in the Octagon!
