Over the past thirty years, the UFC has become synonymous with mixed martial arts. The promotion has done more to popularize the sport more than any other organization and is gearing up to put on its 300th pay-per-view event in April at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

And the UFC puts on the biggest shows for its anniversary cards, with the biggest names in the sport, as it did in the case of UFC 100 and 200. And while many promising and exciting fights have been announced, the Dana White-led promotion has been silent on the main event, leading to some questions from fans and fighters alike.

Questions raised around UFC 300 main event

#13 ranked UFC lightweight Renato Moicano, fresh off a unanimous victory over Drew Dober at UFC Fight Night Vegas 8 last night, took to Twitter to voice his concerns over the main event for UFC 300. The warned that if the UFC failed to come up with a headliner that blew fans’ socks off, the promotion would have a mutiny from the fans.

“The question remains who da fook gonna be the UFC 300 main event…. If they don’t come up with some good… that’s going to be a problem…. #ufc300,” he tweeted.

There have been speculations that Leon Edwards may make his third title defence against Belal Muhammad at UFC 300. However, fans and analysts feel this fight may not be big enough to headline the anniversary card.

Israel Adesanya‘s name has also been thrown into the hat by fans. There have been rumors that he may fight light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira for the third time in the UFC to settle the score between them. A middleweight title clash against 180-pound champion Dricus Du Plessis has also been suggested. Meanwhile, however, the UFC has announced some bangers for the card.

Dana White led promotion announces exciting fights for UFC 300

So far, the only title bout announced for the April 14 card is Justin Gaethje vs. Max Holloway for the  resurrected BMF title held by Gaethje. Zhang Weili and Yan Xiaonan  will make history as the first all-Chinese title fight in UFC history. Zhang will look to defend her strawweight title for the third time against Xiaonan who is on a seven-fight win streak.

Another much-awaited UFC 300 matchup is the lightweight title eliminator between Charles Oliveira and Arman Tsarukyan. Former light heavyweight champion Jiří Procházka, coming off a loss to Alex Pereira last year will look to bounce back against Aleksandar Rakić at the anniversary mega-card.
