Dana White has been steadily ensuing fights for the UFC 300 card. However, one champion in the promotion has revealed that she will be missing out on the April 13 event. The champion in question is Alexa Grasso. The women’s flyweight champion is apparently not on the cards for a fight in the monumental triple-century event.

Alexa Grasso last fought at Noche UFC, when she went head-to-head against Valentina Shevchenko. It was a draw that involved the controversial 10-8 score. Since then, there has been no update on her return even though she teased a champion vs champion fight against Zhang Weili. Let’s see what transpired recently.

A few weeks ago, strawweight champion Zhang Weili issued a proposal to Alexa Grasso for a flyweight title fight. With both fighters agreeing to square off, they issued a request to Dana White to make it happen at UFC 300. However, the UFC CEO ended up pitting ‘Magnum’ in another fight, while there have been no announcements regarding Grasso. As per recent reports, we may not get to see the Mexican champion in April.

MMA outlet ‘MMA Latinoamerica‘ recently informed that Alexa Grasso has confirmed her status for UFC 300. She will not be competing on April 13. Furthermore, Grasso confirmed this news during a livestream session with fellow UFC fighter Diego Lopes, who will fight at UFC 300 against Sodiq Yusuff. Nevertheless, the flyweight champion mentioned that she told the UFC she wanted to be on that card, but nothing ever came to fruition. While she did not get a fight, Zhang Weili did and she will defend her title against a fellow Chinese fighter.

Zhang Weili vs. Yan Xiaonan set for April

Dana White is yet to announce the main event, but he has a title fight for the fans. Zhang Weili did not get the fight she wanted, which was against Alexa Grasso. However, she will be putting her title up for grabs against Yan Xiaonan at UFC 300. While ‘Magnum’ is on a three-fight winning streak, the latter is gearing up for her fight with two consecutive wins under her belt. Meanwhile, the most interesting thing about this fight is that this will be the first time two Chinese fighters will square off inside the Octagon against each other, that too for a title.

Dana White is sure that this fight will live up to the expectations. However, Yan Xiaonan wanted the title fight in China and the UFC CEO seemed to be on board with it. But the title challenger later realized that she may not get as much support as Zhang Weili could get back home. Hence, Xiaonan decided to fight in the home of the UFC, Las Vegas.
