#1 contender fight announced for UFC 300

In an announcement a few hours ago, Dana White revealed the co-main event for UFC 299 in March in Miami. Former interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier will take on Benoit Saint-Denis in a five-round lightweight scrap. This would be a much-needed tune-up for the Diamond’ since his loss at UFC 291. As for Saint-Denis, this fight offers a ticket to the top 5 rankings of the division.

As for UFC 300, former champion Charles Oliveria will take on Arman Tsarukyan for the right to challenge Islam Makhachev. Both Tsarukyan and Oliveira are names fans have been throwing in for a lightweight title fight. What better way to go about it than to pit them against each other, especially when the champion is out injured?
