Conor McGregor has revealed that he wants to face old rival Nate Diaz for a trilogy in September this year at the iconic Sphere in Las Vegas. Even as the uncertainty around ‘Mac’, who has been out of action for the past three years, persists, McGregor has told fans exactly what he wants.

The Irishman posted text of his question-and-answer session with fans on his Instagram Story. McGregor was asked to make the Diaz trilogy happen. “Conor wanna see you and Diaz trilogy. Make it happen,” a fan wrote. ‘Notorious’ agreed with the fan and said that he wanted to make his comeback against Michael Chandler in June and fight Nate Diaz in September. He claimed that he had even let Dana White and the UFC know about his plan.

“I wish for this on Mexican Independence Day in the sphere. Chandler June. Diaz September. have let this be known,” McGregor answered. Their trilogy would lay to rest one of the most legendary rivalries (which stands at 1-1 at the moment) in the history of the sport that began when Diaz shocked the world and defeated the seemingly invincible UFC 196 clash.

This must come as relief to McGregor fans, as there have been speculations that the wealthiest mixed martial artist in the history of the sport may not want to return to the octagon. As the release of his silver screen debut later this month inches closer, there are fears McGregor may move on to greener pastures.

Conor McGregor was originally slated to make his comeback to the octagon against rival ‘TUF’ 31 coach Michael Chandler late last year. However, the bout was postponed until 2024. On New Year’s Eve, ‘Notorious’ announced that he would fight Chandler in a middleweight bout on June 29 at UFC 302, but was shot down quickly by UFC CEO Dana White, who has said that McGregor will not be ready to fight until, at best, late 2024. However, some think McGregor may give up fighting altogether and try his hand in Hollywood if his debut film is well received.
