UFC legend congratulated Team USA’s Kyle Snyder, Zahid Valencia, and others
The United States of America had a pretty good run in the 2025 championships. They secured second place, with Iran coming out on top, and ended the whole campaign with 4 gold, 1 silver, and 3 bronze medals and a total of 134 points for the men’s team. The women’s team secured a respectable fourth-place finish, earning 83 points. The person Henry Cejudo praised to begin his message on Instagram was Zahid Valencia, who won the gold medal with a massive 49-0 score. “[Zahid Valencia] asserted his dominance, finishing 49-0. Zahid has been training rigorously his entire life, and it was great to see his hard work finally pay off,” wrote the UFC legend.
One of the Team USA members, Trent Hidlay, showcased a great deal of grit and relentlessness. He came from behind to secure the 92kg gold, as Henry Cejudo stated, “[Trent] Hidlay probably stole the show, coming all the way back from down 8-0 to win the match 13-10. Amazing grit with excellent hand fighting and well-timed shots – That’s makes Hidlay special. Talk about someone who embodies a lively American sprit – That is Trent Hidlay.” Then came the big fish, Kyle Snyder, who made his return from a temporary suspension in June.

Well, Snyder had a pretty close matchup, as he scored a clutch victory in the 97kg category and won the third gold for the United States. Henry Cejudo was not only impressed with his win at the championships but also praised his consistency and longevity in the game. “Super awesome to see someone in the game for this long and still on top of the world. He’s stepping on the toes of some of the all-time greats of the sport and has what it takes to become the greatest American wrestler of all time,” Cejudo added.

Finally, the last American to get a shout-out from ‘Triple C’ was Helen Maroulis, who is the only woman to win gold. And guess what? Henry Cejudo claims that Maroulis’ win has made her the “greatest American women’s wrestler of all time.” The former UFC champion is confident that she will continue to shine, adding, “Helen continues to push the bar and puts herself on a mountain of her own. 2028 is right around the corner…I’d put my money on Maroulis to win gold again.”
Meanwhile, Henry Cejudo did not share a message for only the American team. In fact, he was also impressed with wrestlers from other nations, particularly one from Greece, who made history. Let’s take a look at that front.

Henry Cejudo showers praise on Greek champion
There were more countries that failed to win gold than those that won. However, Greece was in a position to end its campaign without any medals at all, but that’s when Georgios Kougioumtsidis stepped up, who earned the only medal for his country, a gold medal in the 79 kg category. Henry Cejudo joined the people back home in the 23-year-old’s country and celebrated his triumph as well.

“Let’s talk about the Greek God [Georgios Kougioumtsidis] becoming the first male world champion in Greece history! This one right here might be the most special. Born and raised in Greece and being the first man to bring a world title home to his country is truly inspiring,” The former UFC champion and ex-Olympian further stated. “Although be beat the American in the finals, it was cool to see him make history and bring joy to his people.”
Henry Cejudo loved the experience of being there in Croatia to witness all the wrestling action and also be a part of the experts’ panel, for which he appears thankful. In that regard, Cejudo wrote, “I want to give a big thank you to [United World Wrestling] and [Eric Olanowski] for allowing me to share my knowledge with the wrestling community that I love.” He’d be hoping to see Team USA end their next campaign in the top spot, but the 2025 one has been historic, nonetheless.
