Julianna Pena shocked the world at UFC 269. ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ won gold after overpowering one of the most towering female fighters of all time, Amanda Nunes. Interestingly, these top two bantamweights got together again for a season of The Ultimate Fighter.

The fighters faced each other, although this time as coaches. Pena got to know more about her rival as the two fighters were shooting in proximity. In an interview with The Schmo, ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ called ‘The Lioness’ a “high maintenance” compared to what she would has thought.

I would say that she’s a little bit more high maintenance than I had originally anticipated that’s for sure,” said Pena. The 32-year-old did not want to reveal further and asked the fans to wait till the show airs in May.

Although, ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ revealed that there was tension between her and Nunes while filming.

“I would definitely say that there’s a little bit of like a sad bravado about her that I think that she’s really wanting to come back and get her belt back and so we had some words, we had some choice words. You’re gonna have to watch the show, but yeah,” added Pena.

The current bantamweight queen, Pena, started her own journey on the very show that now casts her as a coach. The Season 18 of TUF had ‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ competing as a fighter under coach Miesha Tate. That season had Tate’s arch rival and UFC legend Ronda Rousey.

Julianna Pena was the show’s winner and, in fact, was crowned the first-ever female Ultimate Fighter.

Pena and Nunes will coach “TUF” Season 30 with heavyweights and women’s flyweights. The fans are waiting to watch both these bantamweight stalwarts clash inside the Octagon once again.
