Amanda Nunes is inarguably one of the greatest female fighters to ever grace the UFC octagon. She has defeated many notable names like Miesha Tate, Holly Holm, Valentina Shevchenko, and Ronda Rousey.

The Brazilian female fighter looked invincible after her last loss in 2014. However, everything changed after UFC 269, when she fought Julianna Pena in the co-main event.

‘The Venezuelan Vixen’ dethroned ‘The Lioness’ of her bantamweight crown by defeating her via submission in the second round of the fight. This came as a shock to many fans, as Nunes was a heavy favorite going into the fight.

‘The Lioness’ was a part of one of the most famous MMA gyms, the American Top Team. However, after her devastating loss at UFC 269, Nunes announced she will leave the ATT and start her own personal gym to train under new coaches.
Recently, while talking about this in an interview with Michael Eaves of ESPN MMA, Nunes said, “After all this is done, I wanna be a coach. So when I say I wanna open a gym, I didn’t say I wanna open a public gym.”

“I wanna open a private space. If I have to start over I wanna do something the way I want to do. So it’s gonna to be something that I want to do as my private coach. That I wanna really be better for next rematch,” Nunes added.

However, this news didn’t sit well with the team. In response, one manager of ATT said: “The optics look bad. You lose one time and you’re making a change. I guess we’ll know by her performance if it was a good or bad decision.” (H/T: ESPN)

Amanda Nunes and Julianna Pena as coaches for TUF 30
After their fight at UFC 269, both the female fighters Nunes and Pena have verbally agreed to a rematch. However, the UFC is yet to make any official announcement about this rematch.

However, this much-anticipated rematch is expected to take place this year. Interestingly, before this rematch, the female fighters will serve as coaches for the upcoming season of The Ultimate Fighter.
