Over the years, Charles Oliveira has earned a big name in the UFC. Oliveira currently stands at 33 victories and nine losses. The former lightweight champion has done so much hard work to level up his position at the promotion. The UFC commentator Joe Rogan expressed his feelings about Oliveira in JRE. While talking with the UFC’s surging bantamweight, Cory Sandhagen, Rogan detailed his thoughts on the career trajectory of ‘Do Bronx’. Rogan feels that the Brazilian fighter has changed a lot through the years and has put in a lot of effort to build himself.

He won the lightweight championship by knocking out the former three-time Bellator lightweight champion, Michael Chandler, at UFC 262. The two locked horns for the vacant lightweight championship title when Khabib Nurmagomedov retired from the sport. As per the 2022 rankings, Oliveira is ranked number one in the UFC lightweight rankings. Furthermore, he is ranked in the 8th position in the UFC’s men’s pound-for-pound rankings. The 55-year-old commentator appreciates all the enormous achievements of Oliveira in his podcast, The Joe Rogan Experience.

The UFC commentator talked in JRE MMA Show #138 with Sandhagen. The two of them talked a lot about their common interest, which is MMA. While discussing about fighters who have transformed themselves over the years, Rogan detailed the improvements he has observed in ‘Do Bronx’. Rogan said, “It changed his perception, the people’s perceptions of him because people have this idea of who he was and then once he beat like Gaethje he beat all these. No one has that perception anymore. Once he beat Chandler and everyone is like, this guy is a moth**f**ker and it was, you watched it all.“

He further talked about the journey of Oliveira from an average fighter to one of the greatest champions ever. He added, “It wasn’t like he had those fights overseas and other organizations, and then he figured it out. No, he did it on the biggest stage of the world and made that transformation. From getting KO by Cub Swanson, getting beat up by Paul Felder. And then all of a sudden, this guy fucking hits a switch, and he’s a good destroyer. One of the greatest champions ever.” Sandhagen, too, appreciated Oliveira for his great transformation.

The next bout of ‘Do Bronx’

 Oliveira’s last match was against Islam Makhachev at UFC 280. The Brazilian fighter lost the match via submission, 3 minutes and 16 seconds into the second round. The match resulted in Oliveira losing his lightweight belt. At the moment, he is all set to face Beneil Dariush at UFC 288.
