In the latest episode of the ‘Michael Bisping Podcast’ light heavyweight fighter, Anthony Smith and ‘The Count’ were asked a question about Michael Chandler.

A Chandler fan asked Bisping and Smith what ‘Iron’ needs to do to become better and maybe get a title shot. Anthony Smith answered the fan by saying if he was Chandler’s manager, he would probably pull him out of some big-moment fights. Smith said he wouldn’t care if Chandler foes down the rankings for a while.

Explaining further what he thinks needs to be done with Chandler, Anthony said, “to be fair I think that’s [McGregor] one of those fights where that’s where you’re uh going down in this level a little bit. I think that’s more the level of fight he needs to be in.”

Talking further about Chandler’s matchup with Conor McGregor, Anthony Smith further said, “Obviously that popularity-wise that’s going to be a monster fight but as far as like his skill level I think that’s more where he needs to be yeah at least you get some confidence back.”

Conor McGregor, on the other hand, has been out of the UFC since July 2021. The last time he fought in the octagon was in UFC 264 where he lost to Dustin Poirier after suffering a terrible leg injury. He has been out of the UFC since then and is not expected to make a UFC comeback until next year.

Michael Chandler came into the fight against Dustin Poirier with a title shot in sight. The loss, however, has derailed this plan of a title fight. Although Chandler opened the fight strong, the rear-naked choke from Dustin Poirier broke his title plans.
