Undeniably, the return of the former champion has excited the MMA world to a great extent. Furthermore, the fact that he kept his promise and landed in the heavyweight division has also been commended by the fans. However, Sonnen had a different perspective. He said, “you got a guy that took three years off versus a guy that’s 1-1 in his last two. I mean, that’s just the reality. I don’t know if we’ve had a more, a less deserving heavyweight match in a meaningful period of time.”

Additionally, he said that the UFC heavyweight division is in ‘pretty slim pickings’. Without a doubt, the comments triggered the voice of the public. Although some of the fans sided with Sonnen, many others were against the notion. Furthermore, some fans took notice of Sonnen’s ‘saltiness’.
