Josh Parisian and Roque Martinez will clash in the heavyweight division of the UFC at UFC Fight Night: Jung vs Ige this weekend. The fight will take place on the event’s preliminary card. As both fighters suffered setbacks in their previous outings, they will be determined to get back to the win column with a triumph this weekend.

Former Dana White’s Contender Series alumnus, Parisian dropped his debut in the UFC. He lost a decision to Parker Porter in November 2020. He will look to get the first win of his UFC career when he steps in against Martinez this weekend.

As for the Guam international, Martinez, he is also seeking his first win under the UFC banner as he takes on Parisian. Martinez lost his promotional debut against Alexander Romanov by submission. Subsequently, he dropped a decision to Don’Tale Mayes in his second fight in the UFC.

Parisian has a professional record of 13-4 with 12 finishes (10 T/KO and 2 submissions). As for Martinez, his record stands at 15-7 with 11 finishes (8 T/KO and 3 submissions) in his career so far.

Josh Parisian vs Roque Martinez: Analysis

Parisian has certainly faced the better opponents in his UFC career so far. Also, he certainly is in better shape than Martinez and has the better cardio. He will look to use that fact to his advantage this weekend.

Ahead of the bout, Parisian dwarfs his opponent in both height and reach. Furthermore, he has also shown he is a good striker and has good grappling skills. He even manages to do some flashy stuff inside the Octagon, which is very impressive for a heavyweight of his size.

Overall, Parisian looks the better fighter all around. He will look to put a stamp of authority on his UFC career with a commanding win against Martinez in this fight. Parisian might just be able to get a finish over Martinez in the first round of the contest.
