Follow Us
Michael Chiesa will fight Neil Magny in the main event of UFC Fight Night tomorrow. The featured welterweight clash will be a hugely important one in the landscape of the division. Both fighters are currently on a 3-fight win streak and will like to keep the momentum going with yet another victory.
Magny has the chance to rack up his 18th win in the UFC welterweight division, which will leave him one behind the legendary Georges St-Pierre. However, the Haitian fighter will have a stern test in ‘Maverick‘ Chiesa.
Having racked up three consecutive victories against legends like Rafael Dos Anjos, Diego Sanchez, and Carlos Condit, Chiesa is on a roll. Magny, on the other hand, is coming off the biggest win of his career against ‘Ruthless’ Robbie Lawler.

Chiesa holds a professional record of 17-4, and out of his 17 wins, 11 have come via submission. On the contrary, Magny has 7 wins by knockout and 3 by submission out of his 24 career victories. His professional record stands at 24-7.
Magny, however, has a huge advantage in signature strikes landed per minute as he lands 3.95 significant shots on average compared to Chiesa’s 2.07. But Chiesa has a submission average of 1.08 per 15 minutes to Magny’s 0.28.
There is no doubt Chiesa is a better fighter on the ground. Even on his feet, he can hold his own against anybody. In fact, his knockdown ratio of 0.12 is better than that of Magny’s 0.11.

Prediction: Michael Chiesa by decision
It is evident that Chiesa is a bit more complete in terms of skillset than Neil Magny. He is a versatile fighter who can mix it up with his striking and excellent ground game.
He still has to be cautious of Magny’s striking prowess as the latter can shut the lights out on anybody. But comparing how both of their fights went against a common opponent in Rafael Dos Anjos, it seems Chiesa can grind a decision out in his favor.
