UFC strawweight Nina Ansaroff is set to fight Mackenzie Dern on the main card on UFC Fight Night: Vettori vs. Holland on April 10, 2021. The fight is vital for the strawweight division, as Ansaroff is ranked number 5 in the official UFC rankings while her opponent Dern is ranked number 11.

Ansaroff is coming back to the Octagon after a lengthy lay-off. Her last fight was a loss against Tatiana Suarez in the June 2019. She is facing the rising star, Mackenzie Dern. Dern has just the one loss in her entire UFC career, which was a decision loss against Amanda Ribas.

She is currently on a three-fight win streak and has won 6 of her 11 fights via submission. By contrast, Ansaroff has never been knocked out in her entire career and has only been submitted once. This will be an interesting fight from a stat jockey’s point of view.

Ansaroff is a member of the American Top Team. She has a black belt in Taekwondo and is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. She has only been submitted once and is incredibly adept on the ground. Ansaroff would have posed some problems for any fighter under normal circumstances, but Dern is a black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Dern is quite possibly the fighter with the best Jiu-Jitsu skills in the division. She has won gold medals in more than 20 submission wrestling competitions. She absolutely dominated the field of submission wrestling, and her six wins via submission come as no surprise.

It would suit Ansaroff to keep the fight off the ground. She needs to rely on her striking to win this fight. It will be interesting to see whether the lengthy lay-off has affected her game in any way. Keep an eye on this one, for you might just witness the start of a fantastic career.
