Sam Alvey will take on Julian Marquez in a middleweight contest on the main card of UFC Fight Night: Vettori vs Holland. Alongside the exciting main event between Marvin Vettori and Kevin Holland, this fight is the only other middleweight contest of the night.
‘Smile’N’ will move from the light-heavyweight division to 185 lbs where he will look to rejuvenate his UFC career. Alvey hasn’t won a single of his last five fights, losing four of them. His last win was against Gian Villante in 2018.

Marquez on the other hand is coming off a submission win over Maki Pitolo at UFC 258. Following the fight, ‘The Cuban Missile Crisis’ grabbed headlines as he called out Miley Cyrus to be his valentine.

Marquez is a Dana White’s Contender Series alumni. He knocked out Phil Hawes on the show in 2017. A submission win over Darren Stewart in his UFC debut was followed by a split decision loss to Alessio Di Chirico before his fight against Pitolo.
Sam Alvey and Julian Marquez in numbers
Alvey has been a UFC veteran since 2014. He has defeated the likes of Nate Marquardt, Rashad Evans, Cezar Ferreira, and more during his time in the organization, but he is currently on a slump. Alvey has a professional record of 33-14 with 22 (19 T/KO & 3 submissions) of his wins coming by finishes.
The 30-year-old, Marquez, has a record of 8-2 with all of his wins coming via stoppage. Furthermore, ‘The Cuban Missile Crisis’ has never been finished in his professional career.
Keeping Marquez’s knockout prowess and durable chin in mind, the 34-year-old Alvey will look to grapple his opponent in the earlier stages of the fight.
But Marquez should be able to avoid those exchanges and emerge as the winner if the bout is contested on the feet.
