UFC Fighter Nathaniel Wood Releases CCTV Footage of His Knee Injury During Training

There is no denying the fact that the UFC is one of the biggest combat sports promotion in the world. Fighters always run the risk of getting injured. That injury can happen in the fight, and sometimes even in training. Training injuries are not a very rare sight in the UFC. Darren Till broke his collarbone in preparation for his fight against Marvin Vettori in 2021. Similarly, Rafael dos Anjos fractured his foot just before his big fight against Conor McGregor in 2016.
Now, UFC fighter and 29-year-old MMA fighter, Nathaniel Wood, was involved in a freak accident where he sliced his knee.

Nathaniel Wood recently took to Twitter to reveal his knee injury to the MMA world. Wood posted a video where he could be seen training and attempting a takedown. While going for a takedown, the 19-5 record holder landed badly on the wooden edge of the mat and got an extreme cut on his knee.

“That takedown attempt cost me a fortune”, said Nathaniel Wood, who was forced to withdraw from his UFC 286 match because of the injury.

Nathaniel Wood’s Earlier Fight Misses
This is not the first time Wood is missing a fight at UFC. He has missed 2 more fights since 2021. At UFC Fight Night 191, he was removed from the fight card without a disclosed reason. In his next scheduled fight at UFC Fight Night 204, Wood‘s opponent couldn’t compete due to the Ukraine-Russia War.
It is unfortunate to see a rising star like Nathaniel Wood miss fights. He has won 11 of his last 13 fights and was looking in good touch in his last fight against Charles Jourdain. The entire MMA community wishes Nathaniel Wood fighter a healthy and speedy recovery.
