Sergei Pavlovich has been making waves throughout the UFC, if not the entirety of MMA. The Russian heavyweight fighter is currently on a 6-win streak that consists of some of the most prominent names in the UFC. His professional MMA record stands at 18-1-0. Now, the Russian giant is gearing up to fight another impressive heavyweight, Tom Aspinall.

The only loss that he suffered in his entire MMA career was at the hands of the revered Alistair Overeem. So what is the secret behind his prowess? How can Sergei Pavlovich win nearly every fight that he is part of? Well, it seems that the secret lies in the people he trains with. A while back, Pavlovich shared a picture of himself with the undefeated UFC former lightweight champ, Khabib Nurmagomedov that went viral. But there is more.

Pavlovich’s UFC has been nothing short of spectacular. In fact, one might compare it to that of the UFC lightweight champion Islam Makhachev‘s track record. Now, it seems that there is a connection. It turns out, that Pavlovich used to train at the same gym as they did – AKA gym. In that post, Pavlovich added a caption that read as follows: “Khabib was the captain of our team, so I came to AKA. Daniel Cormier is a cheerful, funny guy. Everyone was always tired after training, but he remained cheerful. DC gave me some advice. Khabib is very disciplined, hardworking guy. He understands and observes everything perfectly.”

Now that Nurmagomedov has retired and has his own MMA academy, Pavlovich has changed his affiliation from AKA to Eagles MMA Academy, where he trains. Hence, understanding where the grit and the ability to overpower and surpass the opponent comes very easily.

Sergei Pavlovich vs. Tom Aspinall – Can the heavyweight fighter keep the momentum going?

The main event of UFC 295 was originally supposed to be a clash between Jon Jones and Stipe Miocic. However, Jones suffered an injury and the fight card had to be scrapped. Instead, the UFC fans will now get to witness a monster mash between Tom Aspinall and Sergei Pavlovich. Aspinall himself is a decorated fighter who has called out Jon Jones previously.

Aspinall is coming in with an MMA record of 13-3-0, with his only loss in the UFC coming from his fight against Curtis Blaydes. Pavlovich’s last fight was against Blaydes and the Russian dominated his opponent and finished him with heavy shots on the ground. Logistically, Pavlovich has the upper hand in this fight. However, in the UFC, anything can happen. However, one cannot disregard that the 6’3″ Russian heavyweight fighter has the longest reach in MMA at 84.0″ (213cm).
