Despite all the naysayers’ claims, UFC’s bantamweight champion Sean O’Malley knocked out a dominant champion in Aljamain Sterling. Given how on point he looked coming into the fight against the former champion, most people would assume that he came in the best shape of his life. However, that wasn’t the case.
It recently came to light that the current UFC champion had been suffering through an injury going into his title fight. Here is what happened to O’Malley in his lead-up to the fight.

During a recent YouTube video, the UFC bantamweight champion revealed that he was suffering from a torn muscle in his ribs leading up to his title fight against Sterling. However, he claimed to have convinced himself to believe in himself to win the title by writing it in a journal. And that’s what he did by finishing the dominant champion in the second round. About his mindset going into the fight, O’Malley said, “We just had some injuries but in the back, it’s not you’re not thinking about that sh*t your f***ing focus the aisle you know you’re kind of ready to die in there.

Sean O’Malley, during a recent TMZ sports interview, explained how he felt going into his rematch against Marlon Vera. Despite how things ended in the first fight, the bantamweight champion seems to believe that he lost the fight because of a fluke. And he seems to be coming into the fight with full confidence. In the interview, he said, “I got a lot of hate for saying mentally I didn’t lose that fight. I didn’t feel like my skills were beat. It was a freak accident. Yeah, he threw the kid.
