“UFC Is a Business” – Georges St-Pierre Explains Why the Khabib Nurmagomedov Fight Never Materialized
Georges St-Pierre is arguably one of our generation’s greatest Mixed Martial artists. His achievements and journey in the UFC are something that only a few fighters today can dream of achieving. Talking about why a fight with the Dagestani never saw the light of day, St-Pierre stated, “It’s exactly the same reason why the Anderson Silva fight never happened. It’s the UFC. The UFC could have made it, but they had other plans. It’s always a question of timing.“
He continued, “And at the time that we wanted to make the fight happen, they had other plans…It’s unfortunate for the fans and for us because that’s where we wanted hope to happen. But UFC is a business. And sometimes they have to do what is good for the business and not necessarily what’s good for the fans.”
St-Pierre is always well-spoken, and couldn’t have given a more sensible answer. Although unfortunately, fans can never see them fight, it probably could have been the greatest MMA fight.
