‘UFC Is Not Looking Out for Me’ – Jimmy Flick Announces His Retirement

Jimmy ‘The Brick’ Flick is one of the top MMA flyweight fighters, and many touted him to be the next big thing in the UFC. Flick made his UFC debut last year and defeated Cody Durden with a flying triangle choke.

Flick had an amazing debut and everybody was excited to see how ‘The Brick’ would continue his UFC journey. However, all of this talk has come to a halt, as Flick has announced his retirement out of the blue. During a recent outing, ‘The Brick’ announced the same.

And I’ve found out I don’t wanna be the next Conor McGregor or the next Demetrious Johnson. So tonight I step in this cage tonight and I’m telling everybody that I’m retiring from mixed martial arts and I’m gonna pursue the other goals in life that make me more happy than fighting.”

Jimmy was on a two-match win streak and was on the verge of a title shot. Therefore, this decision seemed even more shocking.

Jimmy Flick wants to spend time with his family

There is nothing more important than family, and Flick seems to have understood that and wants to spend as much time as he can with his family.

‘The Brick’ said, “It does bring tears to my eyes, but the UFC is not looking out for me, my wife’s looking out for me, my kid’s looking out for me and that’s what I want, I wanna be a father. I wanna go to work every day, come home to my family, I wanna spend time with my little girls; I wanna spend time with my wife.”

The sheer suddenness of the move surprised most fans as Flick was supposed to fight Francisco Figueiredo on May 8. Fans have been reacting to the news of his retirement, while many are sad about it, people seem to understand that family always comes first.

Jimmy ‘The Brick’ Flick was a great competitor and everybody loved watching the fighter compete. His retirement comes as a shock to all his fans, but we wish the fighter all the very best for his future and hope that he ends up doing what he loves.
