UFC 286 is around the corner, and the main event fighters, Leon Edwards and Kamaru Usman, have successfully weighed in for their bout. Undoubtedly, the major attraction of UFC 286 is the trilogy clash between Edwards and Usman. The entire UFC community is holding their breath to find out if Usman can earn his belt back from Rocky. No one really expected any huge dramas after their successful weigh-ins. However, things took a different turn when the least-expected Colby Covington stepped in to weigh in as an official backup for the main event.

Covington shook the entire UFC world when he readily took on the role of a backup fighter. This infuriated welterweight Belal Muhammad, who is at the peak of his career at present. As per Muhammad, ‘Chaos’ was a “coward” who turned down the fight against Muhammad to become a backup. Moreover, the UFC commentator, Jon Anik, supports the 34-year-old for the unfair treatment he received.

The 34-year-old was able to emerge victorious in all eight of the last nine bouts he fought; the only exception was the no-contest bout against “Rocky” at UFC Fight Night 187. Being the #4 ranked welterweight, he undoubtedly deserves a fight against the ranked #2, Covington.

As reported by MMA Junkie, “Remember the Name” has been eyeing a fight against Covington for a long time. Nonetheless, “Chaos” kept on turning down the matchup to choose guys who lost their previous fights. Muhammad declared, I’m glad that the world is starting to notice it and see it now, because we both could have weighed in, he still could have been backup, and we both could have actually fought and got a paycheck for actually fighting, but he’s a coward.

Anik tweeted “Understand acutely why Colby Covington was the back-up but hard not to feel for @bullyb170! 9-fight unbeaten streak. Hasn’t lost in 4-plus years. Just KO’d a previously undefeated fighter. The man deserves his respect and I don’t say that b/c he hosts a podcast w/ my twin bro.

The UFC commentator believed that Muhammad deserved a great fight, as he is one of the best in the division. It is unfortunate that even after being at the peak of his career; he is unable to have a bout that can take him to the belt.
