This past August, Dillon Danis returned to MMA on Misfits Boxing 22 against Warren Spencer. ‘El Jefe’ defeated Spencer to become the influencer boxing organization’s inaugural light heavyweight champion, ending his six-year hiatus from the sport. And now, the 32-year-old thinks he is ready to make the jump to the UFC. However, top brass in the promotion aren’t ready to take the chance with the always talkative fighter.

“I offered to be in the [Ultimate Fighter] house, which is actually crazy, and [UFC CFO Hunter Campbell] said that I was going to punch someone in the house and just get out and use it for clout or something like that,” Danis told Demetrious Johnson in the latest episode of MightyCast. Despite that, the controversial former teammate of Conor McGregor hasn’t lost hope, revealing that he still dreams of making his debut against Islam Makhachev.

Dillon Danis wants to capitalize on his decision not to sue the UFC
Johnson and Danis were in the middle of discussing Johnson’s departure from the UFC and Ben Askren’s arrival when the topic shifted to Danis potentially joining the promotion. Johnson offered his take on how the UFC might introduce him, saying, “I think for you, if they get you, they can start you off at 10 and 10. You get your first fight.” Danis, however, wasn’t having it. Interrupting with clear frustration, he fired back, “You’re f—king crazy.”

“You’re f—king crazy, bro. Give me f—king Islam. Give me f—king someone easy,” he said. When Johnson highlighted that it won’t happen, Danis reminded him of the chaotic end to Conor McGregor vs. Khabib Nurmagomedov. “What do you mean? Islam jumped out of the cage and fucking punched me in the head seven times?” When Johnson asked how that would help him land a fight with Islam right away, Danis replied that he could have sued the UFC.

“So, let me get my revenge,” Danis said. “Like, I never sued the UFC for that. [I could have sued them for millions.] I never did anything.” However, there’s another man Danis claims he can get the better of—Khamzat Chimaev!
Demetrious Johnson places $50K bet on Khamzat Chimaev
After beating Spencer, a locker room clip of Danis revealed he thinks he can beat Khamzat Chimaev. “People don’t understand, no one’s ever fought a grappler like me. Look what happened to Khamzat when he fought [Gilbert Burns],” Danis said. He later doubled down, claiming he is the only one who can beat Chimaev. “I’m the only fighter alive with the style to strangle Khamzat Chimaev.”
This got Johnson thinking during his podcast. “If he gets to the UFC and he fights Khamzat Chimaev… I would do 50 G’s against him,” Johnson said near the end of the podcast. “If he beats Khamzat, I’ll give him 50 Gs.” However, Johnson highlighted that Danis will not only have to get to the UFC but also get an opportunity to fight Chimaev, who is now at 185 pounds (middleweight).

“I’ll put 50 G’s in escrow when the contract is signed for him to fight. He’s got to do 50 G’s in escrow. He beats him—he can have the 50 G’s. I’m a man of my word,” Johnson said.
Clearly, Demetrious Johnson has little confidence in Dillon Danis beating Khamzat Chimaev. And not just that, ‘Mighty Mouse’ doesn’t seem to think Danis would get Makhachev as an opponent even if he lands a contract with the UFC. But do you think Danis would ever get there?
