Jon Jones is having a blast in Thailand. The UFC heavyweight champion is in the picturesque Southeast Asian country to film ‘ALF Reality’, a Russian language clone of the UFC’s flagship show, ‘The Ultimate Fighter’. There, he was supposed to serve as head coach of a team, with UFC legend Nate Diaz supposed to be his opposite.

But, as you may know, Diaz got into a ‘brawl’ during the filming of the show, and then left the show entirely over it. The whole thing, of course, started after one of the fighters on Jones’ team named Zalik approached Diaz, and asked him for a fight, seemingly jokingly. But things escalated and a punch was thrown at Zalik.

Although the Russin got pretty upset at that, things didn’t escalate on camera. And UFC legend Michael Bisping, who himself is no stranger to getting into fights, feels that even if things had escalated, Zalik probably wouldn’t have been able to do anything to the Stockton native.

“I mean Jon Jones, right now, I think he’s in Thailand. I saw this video from Jake Shields where it was all, have you seen that?… He slapped someone as usual, he slapped someone, then it all kicked off. The guy that was kicking off was the guy that Jon Jones was with on the motorbike, sniffing his hair, and he was still wasted from the night before,” Bisping said in a recent interview with Mike Bohn.

“And then he comes in and he’s trying to fight everyone, that guy couldn’t fight his way out of a wet paper bag, just judging by how he was trying to fight, you know. But he’s also with a gang of like 20-30 Chechens and Russians, you know. Not a group you necessarily want to mix with certainly in Thailand,” ‘The Count’ added.

Bispin is correct, Zalik is indeed the same guy who was seen driving a motorcycle  with Jones in the backseat. While Bisping doesn’t think too highly of the Dagestani’s fighting abilities, to be fair, he didn’t really look like he genuinely wanted to have a real fight. Not to mention even if he did, he would have been going up against Nate Diaz,  who can more than handle himself. Moreover, Jon Jones was in the room when the ‘brawl’ happened, watching keenly, waiting to intervene if things escalated.

But Jake Shields, Diaz’s friend, who was on the show with the former BMF contender, has claimed that he was ‘blitzed’ by the ‘staff’. As you can imagine the duo just didn’t feel safe continuing on the show after this experience, hence their abrupt exit.

Michael Bispin seemingly Jon Jones will fight Tom Aspinall

One cannot talk about Jon Jones at the moment without mentioning Tom Aspinall. After all, we still don’t know for sure if that fight is happening, let alone when. But Michael Bisping seems to lean towards the fight happening rather than not. At least that is what it seems from ‘The Count’s take on he continuing uncertainty around Jones-Aspinall.

What’s your perspective on:

Is Jon Jones playing mind games with Tom Aspinall, or is he just not taking him seriously?

Have an interesting take?

“This is what I think he’s trying to do. I think he’s trying to frustrate Tom so he takes his eye off the ball, you know, and starts doing other things,” Bisping said. “I don’t know if he’s necessarily doing the best thing for preparing for Tom Aspinall right now. But Jon has always been that guy, Jon has always been the guy that hasn’t had to live like a nun, you know. He’s always been the guy that’s partied.”

So Bisping feels like the fight will happen, since he’s talking about how Jones is playing mind games with Aspinall, essentially trying to frustrate him, before they fight. ‘Bones’, of course, has claimed that he has already “told the UFC my plans.” But we don’t know what those plans exactly are. Was it a yes? If so, then even Aspinall seems unaware of it. And if no, why hasn’t Jones been stripped? Well, at the moment we have more questions than answers, but hopefully we will get an update soon, perhaps after Jones is done shooting his reality show. What do you think about Bispin’s thoughts about Diaz’s ‘assailant’?
