Diego Sanchez has been in the UFC for the longest period. The fighter entered the league in 2002 and put an end to his journey with a promotion in 2020. Considering his tenure and the fights he has put up, it is not a bad idea to call Sanchez a UFC legend. After putting up an endless number of entertaining bouts for fans, the American fighter decided to leave the promotion after his last fight in 2020. Fans were still dealing with the shock of him leaving the UFC when, in 2022, his new fight dropped in. However, this time around, Sanchez was not going to fight in the UFC, but rather in a brand new league. The promotion is called the Eagle Fighting Championship, led by none other than the ‘Eagle’ himself, Khabib Nurmagomedov.

The Dagestani fighter opened the promotion after retiring from his MMA career upon his mother’s request. After the death of his father, Nurmagomedov decided to step away from MMA for good. However, it only meant in a ‘fighting’ sense. After some time, the former UFC champion opened his own promotion. The league started growing fast without any stoppage. UFC legend Sanchez also decided to join in. However, now after one fight, he confesses that the Russian fighter’s league has left all its fighters hanging regarding future bouts.

Khabib Nurmagomedov is not doing his fighters any good!

In a recent interview with MMA fighting, a much frustrated Sanchez ranted about his situation with the Eagle FC. According to him, he has tried to approach the former UFC champion regarding the status of his contract. Even though he has a couple of fights left on his contract, he is not being contacted by anyone for them. However, he is still not sure if there is going to be an end to the Eagle FC anytime soon. “I don’t know if he’s gonna put an end to Eagle FC. So, I’m still waiting to hear on that,” added Sanchez.

Although the American fighter has been left hanging by his promotion, he does not want the same happening with his fans. To clear up everything, Sanchez said, “there could be two more fights in mixed martial arts for me, but right now I’m pretty happy doing the BKFC.” The fighter subtly dropped his excitement for his entry into the BKFC league. It is bad that Sanchez is not being updated about his upcoming fights in the Eagle FC, but he is not alone.

On the plus side of things, Eagle FC does not require their players to stay in their promotion alone. The athletes there are free to explore other promotions if they wish to do so, unlike the UFC.

Why has Nurmagomedov left everyone hanging?

It has been reported that the Russian fighter is now trying to be a family man. After working hard all his life, Khabib Nurmagomedov is trying to be there for his family. Since he will be more indulged in his family, he does not have much time to care about his produced league. “I have not got any word back from Ali or Khabib because from what I heard in the media, Khabib was done from the MMA for a while,” added Diego Sanchez.

Even though the fighters left hanging by the Eagle FC have other options to explore, it is still unfair; Eagle FC still owes them a certain number of bouts. All that Sanchez can do right now is patiently wait around for the championship to revert back to his interest.
