Mixed martial arts and boxing are two different sports that operate on the same playing field uniquely. While judging a boxing match-up only places special emphasis on scoring strikes, the same doesn’t apply to MMA. This sport offers a mixed bag of everything combat sports has to offer, which makes judging a seriously difficult task.

UFC icon Joe Rogan shared his take on the MMA, judging by outlining a few changes. He wanted to see changes in unified rules that award points to fighters, who manage to inflict more damage or deliver the big moments.

His comments incited a debate, while some fans agreed with Rogan, others voiced their disagreement. Former title challenger and MMA analyst, Chael Sonnen, shared his thoughts on the ongoing debate surrounding judging in MMA.

I don’t know that I fully agree, that Joe misspoke and then Sterling himself didn’t know the rule.”

To clear the air, an MMA analyst took to Twitter to correct the UFC Icon. He stated that every suggestion to improve judging in MMA has been taken care of.
