UFC middleweight Kevin Holland spoke to Nolan King from MMA Junkie two months out from his main event contest. The ‘2020 Fighter of the Year’ contender will take on veteran Derek Brunson in March in his first headlining feature. This is a huge step-up for Holland, who was a relatively unknown player at 185-pounds before making a streaking run.

‘The Trailblazer’ accrued 5 straight wins in just 7 months of 2020 and became one of the most popular fighters. Going 5-0 in a calendar year is a rare feat done by only two other fighters in the modern era of the company. His ‘anytime-anywhere-anyone’ mentality has made fans gravitate towards him and he’s amassed a significant fanbase by virtue of that.

“Man, if I can time his favorite combo right, it might not even be five rounds. I’m definitely prepared for five so we’ll see how it goes and I got plenty of time to prepare so I should be more than great.”

“I got a sequence. If I slip his jab, roll his overhand, and hit him with a good hip thrust while he goes for the takedown, I knock him out with my cojones. Boy right there! That would be a knockout. That would be the knockout of the century.”

While his ‘sequence’ may be over the top, Holland is no stranger to using unorthodox techniques to pull ahead in a contest. His last fight was a sensational KO from the bottom guard that sent former Strike Force champion Jacare Souza to sleep.

The technique was unseen and used to such potency, and it’s clear Holland possesses some serious punching power. Not to mention, he’s got bad intentions lined up for Brunson as he’s already been dismissive of his skill set.
