The year 2023 hasn’t probably disappointed UFC fans. With a number of exciting events this year, fans have witnessed several memorable in-octagon moments in them. From the current UFC Heavyweight champ, Jon Jones making a return to the noted UFC champ-champ, Amanda Nunes’ retirement, this year has given them all. However, this trend continued as the recently concluded UFC Nashville enthralled audiences once more.

With the noted UFC Bantamweights, Cory Sandhagen and Rob Font headlining the event for a catchweight bout, the main card of the event featured a number of superb bouts too. But, even the prelims of this card also got the audiences to their feet with the multiple exciting matchups. So let’s have a brief look at what happened at UFC Nashville.

The prelims card of the UFC Nashville had already got the audiences to their feet. It served as the perfect scenario for the main card to begin. Well, it also may be said that the coveted main card took the fan excitement to another level.

The main event of the night between Sandhagen and Font showcased both fighters displaying some good in-octagon skills. The fight went on till its full length as neither fighter wanted to give up. Both of them showcased awesome ground control at various points of the bout. However, Sandhagen trusted his arms for striking, while Font depended upon his kicks a lot more.

In the end, it was ‘The Sandman’ whose overall prowess in the bout earned him a unanimous decision victory over his rival. The co-main event of the night also stood up to the standards even though it ended in the second round only.

The famed UFC Bantamweight Jessica Andrade’s unruly run continued to prevail as she picked up yet another defeat. Her opponent, Tatiana Suarez, rocked her hard with a clean combination of punches right in the first round.

Despite ending it with a clean left hook, she got taken down shortly into the second round. Andrade tried to scramble but couldn’t due to Suarez’s headlock on her. After this, Suarez transitioned the headlock into a guillotine and forced a tap from Andrade.

‘The Brazilian’ also picked up her third consecutive loss with this defeat. The main card also contained four other superb bouts. Here’s the summary of how they ended:

The superb prelims card set up a near perfect fight friendly environment

Despite the main card stealing the show, it was the enthralling prelims that created the exciting atmosphere. This card also contained six bouts, two of which finished with submissions. The bout between the UFC Welterweights Carlston Harris and Jeremian Wells ended with a rarely witnessed anaconda choke in the third stanza of the bout.

Harris showcased his intent to take the fight to the ground and absorbed a few heavy shots from Wells. But, he eventually managed to put his rival in his signature anaconda choke in the third round after Wells attempted a takedown. It proved to be too tight for Wells, who eventually tapped out to it, accepting his defeat.

The fans also witnessed an awesome rear-naked choke from Assu Almabayev to get the better of his Jamaican opponent, Ode Osbourne. The bout began with both fighters trading a few strikes. But, it soon went to the ground, with Almabaev landing a few good strikes from his top mount. The round ended with a few elbows from Osbourne that didn’t connect too well.

Almabaev started the second round with a head kick and shoved Osbourne to the fence with a single-leg attempt. After Osbourne landed a 1-2, Almabev tripped him to take him down once more. He locked in the full-body triangle, but Osbourne managed to escape it. However, in this process, he gave his back to Almabaev, who locked in a rear-naked choke and made him tap out.
