One of the most prominent names in women’s MMA, Miesha Tate returns to action this week. The former UFC women’s bantamweight champion, who came out of retirement earlier this year, will fight for the 2nd time since then. After winning her first fight against Marion Reneau, she’s going to take on Ketlen Vieira.

Leading up to her fight against Vieira, Tate was asked if she was offered to fight Holly Holm and she turned it down. She said, “No! I didn’t get offered to fight Holly. I was asked about it in media scrum after my fight with Marion. And that’s when I made the statements that I did and that’s the only time I’ve had any conversation about it. So, no, the UFC never came to me and asked me if I wanted to fight Holly. But my thoughts are still the same. I mean, ideally, I want to fight Ketlen, I want to get a win. Maybe one more fight, but perhaps Amanda next. And then I would love to fight Holly. Have her fight me for the belt.

“Truthfully, she should want that too, because I don’t know if she gets a title shot again if I’m not the champion. So, if we fight each other before that, she might not ever get that again. I think it would just be the perfect story. Because I came in and got the belt from her, she was the champ. If I’m the champ, she gets to have that fight against me. That’s my perfect world. What’s the perfect case scenario for the next year for me? What would that long-term plan look like? Well, beat Ketlen, beat Amanda, fight Holly,” she added.

Future matchups for Miesha Tate

Tate might only be fighting for the second time since her return, but she’s already targeting a title shot. The former UFC women’s bantamweight champion faces Ketlen Vieira this week. If she gets the W against her, she will have two consecutive wins. According to ‘Cupcake‘, it should be enough to get her a title shot.

The current women’s bantamweight champion is Amanda Nunes. ‘Lioness‘ won the title back in 2016, after beating Miesha Tate, and she is targeting a rematch with Nunes. Tate is a prominent figure in women’s MMA, and if she can manage to win her next fight, she can be in for a title fight.

The former champ also has Holly Holm in her sights. She wants to fight ‘The Preacher’s Daughter‘ but if Tate gets the title from Nunes. Holm and Tate fought each other at UFC 196, where ‘Cupcake’ beat her and won the bantamweight title.
