Joe Rogan throws some light on the recent testing programme

The UFC and its feud with USADA started way back in October 2023 after the latter blamed the UFC for being biased. USADA alleged that the UFC lobbied for special exemptions for athletes like Conor McGregor to help his return to the sport quickly. However, UFC CEO Dana White refused all such allegations and hence terminated their contract with them at the end of 2023.

Rogan has been associated with the UFC for a very long time and has witnessed some of the most incredible athletes in the sport. During his podcast he said: “UFC is a clean sport. Right now with USADA gone. What is the new company called clean sport no? So they still drug test. And if you are gonna be forty years old, you are fighting at a disadvantage. The advantage would be you know more. It’s an advantage. There’s an advantage of knowing more. But it’s not an advantage is to deal with people who also know a lot. And the young people there is an acceleration of knowing things on You Tube. The young people are way better. It’s a clean sport.”

Rogan has always been vocal about athletes using drugs previously before the USADA. However, now the 56-year-old feels that the sport is clean. However, he also feels that the DFSI and the USADA will work in a similar fashion.

Joe Rogan has never been a fan of the USADA testing

The USADA has been the main drug-testing organization for the UFC for a long time now. However, there have been many fighters that have disliked the way the testing has been done. Athletes like Paulo Costa have always been vocal about the testing procedures taken by the USADA. However, with the new partnership with Drug-Free Sports International, it seems that the fighters will have a new testing method. Rogan has always been vocal about the practices used by the USADA and felt that the methods were not suitable for them.

One of the biggest problems with USADA was that they used to test the athletes on the day of their weigh-ins. Cutting weight before a fight has always been a problem for the fighters. However, USADA does not care about that and makes sure they test the athletes at unwanted hours as well during their weight cut. With DFSI joining hands with the UFC, will we see better testing protocols? Let us know in the comments below.
