The first UFC pay-per-view of the year saw a lot of energetic Canadian fans in Toronto. With UFC 297 being one of the biggest UFC events the country has ever hosted, the crowd’s interest leaned more toward dissing their Prime Minister. Let’s take a look at what transpired last weekend.

Canadian PM’s son witnesses dissing chants on his father

Many people were excited to see the Sean Strickland and Dricus du Plessis headliner. Some of the notable people who attended included the Canadian PM’s son, Xavier Trudeau. The sold-out crowd started a profanity laced chant, ‘F*** Trudeau’, at random intervals. While it was unusual to see such a scene where the citizens call out their leaders during a sporting event, Xavier Trudeau witnessed it firsthand.

Based on the Instagram story, Justin Trudeau’s son was reportedly seated in a box seat. As a result he must have witnessed the dissing chants aimed at the Canadian Prime Minister. While his story is no longer available on the platform, some users on Twitter (X) shared a screenshot of the story from Xavier Trudeau proving that he indeed was witness to the event. This incident prompted reactions from many people, including UFC’s color commentator, Joe Rogan.

Joe Rogan, during the latest ‘Fight Companion’ episode, said, “Canada, get your sh*t together. Come back. Come back to what you used to be. That Pierre Poilievre guy—that guy makes sense.”

The chants about Justin Trudeau came after former champion Sean Strickland went to town on a reporter during the UFC 297 media day. ‘Tarzan’ went on a rant about the Canadian Prime Minister and vented his frustrations with how Trudeau goes about his business. It will be interesting to see if the PM issues a response to this incident at UFC 297.
