Are big plans waiting for Khamzat Chimaev at UFC 300?

Many people are talking about Dricus du Plessis‘ next opponent. While some believe that Israel Adesanya could get a title shot when he returns, Khamzat Chimaev wants to fight for the title next, especially at UFC 300. He firmly believes that he’s done enough to fight ‘Stillknocks’ for the middleweight strap. However, things are still uncertain, but Chimaev recently claimed that something big is waiting for him in the near future.

“Something is about to happen,” said Khamzat Chimaev in a video clip on Instagram. The Emirati fighter did not provide any details regarding what his plans were, as we wait to see what unfolds in the days to come. On the other hand, even though Chimaev claims to be the next title middleweight title challenger, a fellow middleweight does not think that he has done enough to get the title fight.

Bo Nickal dismissed Chimaev’s title shot claims

The UFC’s highly-rated prospect, Bo Nickal, recently posted a video on YouTube, talking about the future of the middleweight division. He brought up Khamzat Chimaev and mentioned how people are talking about him possibly getting a title shot. However, Nickal doesn’t think that ‘Borz’ has proved himself enough in the middleweight division to fight for the belt.

“Do I think he deserves that [title shot]? No. He hasn’t fought a single ‘85er. He’s fought less ‘85ers than me,” said Bo Nickal. Khamzat Chimaev hasn’t responded to these comments yet, but fans can see that he and Nickal could come to blows inside the Octagon one day, given their disagreements and back-and-forth on social media.

It remains to be seen what Khamzat Chimaev’s recent revelation results in since we don’t have much information as to what is about to happen. Nevertheless, he is one of the UFC’s most popular fighters now and it may not come as a surprise if he gets to fight Dricus du Plessis instead of Israel Adesanya. We will have to wait and see how things pan out in the weeks and months to come.
