‘Jaguar’ weighed himself on Friday morning and well he was expected to make the weight and he did but in a bizarre manner. The Frenchman’s weight at the scales was 143 lbs, 2 lbs below the featherweight limit.

After the weigh-in, Gomis hardly kept it together. To summarise his condition, when he stepped on the scales there were definite signs of weakness. It was just obvious after a moment that he needed some help even for standing straight. UFC’s medical team jumped into action and took the French fighter backstage as the fight was called off.

Weight cutting has been a tough journey for many fighters and it’s very problematic if you are naturally a big fighter but fighting in a light zone and that’s what happened with William Gomis at UFC 301. With a height of six feet, Gomis is one of the biggest featherweight in the history of UFC. The Frenchman seldom had any problems in his previous bouts but this time was different.

The fighter weighed at 143 lbs which is not natural for fighters cutting weight for the division. Various reports indicate that Gomis’ health deteriorated just before the official weigh-ins as he threw up in his dressing room and this might be the reason for his weakness. Regardless, not much is known about how much weight he cut for UFC 301 but one thing’s for sure it had some drastic changes in his body.
