UFC Octagon Announcer Charly Arnolt: Husband, Career, and All About UFC’s Ring Anchor

At UFC Vegas 91, history was made inside the Octagon! Long-time fans of the sport may be familiar with Bruce Buffer and Joe Martinez as the two iconic voices of the UFC and the events would not feel as special without their magic touch as announcers.

However, at the recent UFC Vegas 91 event, it was reported that Joe Martinez was unable to do his regular announcing duties as he was under the weather. But the silver lining came as Charly Arnolt stepped up on short-notice and delivered an incredible performance. As such, let’s take a look and learn more about her career, achievements and personal life!

According to a tweet by Mike Bohn, Charly Arnolt stepped in mid-event to replace Joe Martinez at UFC Vegas 91 as the veteran announcer fell sick and needed to step away. As such, Arnolt stepped up on short notice and became the first-ever female ring/cage announcer in the UFC!

A native of Indiana, Arnolt graduated from American University in 2010 and holds a degree in broadcast journalism. She got her start in media as a reporter for the WSAZ-TV in Huntington, West Virginia. In 2016, she made her move to the WWE where she debuted as a ring announcer for the ‘NXT’ brand.

She used the ring name, ‘Charly Caruso’ for her tenure in the professional wrestling world and was later moved to the main WWE roster where she interviewed WWE superstars and hosted segments/shows over multiple WWE platforms including their YouTube and social media channels.

Her tenure with the wrestling promotion lasted till 2021 when she chose not to pursue a new contract. Arnolt then made her debut with the UFC as a fight interviewer in 2022 where she handled the duties of talking to the fighters on the UFC on ESPN: Dos Anjos vs Fiziev card on July 9.

And at UFC Vegas 91, she was called to step up to the plate as Joe Martinez stepped away due to his health issues. Arnolt announced the results of the flyweight bout between Karine Silva and Ariane da Silva for the broadcast. But despite the last-minute duties being handed to her, Arnolt managed to impress a lot of the fans who left words of encouragement on social media.  The fans stated, “She sounded good on the mic even if it was on short notice.” and “that is NOT an easy job to step in to. Amazing props to @CharlyOnTV”

These were just a few of the comments that lauded her ability to rise to the occasion and deliver a memorable performance, underscoring the positive impact she made in her historic debut as a UFC  announcer!

Arnolt is currently single and left ESPN in 2023

Not much is known about Charly Arnolt’s personal life but according to information available online, she is single and isn’t married. In 2023, Arnolt left ESPN to join the sports, news, and politics media platform, ‘Outkick’. In a report by the New York Post, Arnolt stated that her move was prompted due to her being, “very opinionated person” and as such, found herself desiring a job where she’d have more freedom in her work.

She currently boasts an Instagram following of 894 K followers highlighting the reach she has attained through her extensive media career. And with her recent stint as an announcer at UFC Vegas 91, it remains to be seen if she’ll continue to receive more opportunities to showcase her skills at other UFC events, because as the fans pointed out on X, “One of the bright spots on this card… credit to her.”
