He’s still undefeated in the UFC! Caio Borralho is on an unbelievable run at the moment with seven straight wins since his debut. His recent decision victory over former title challenger Jared Cannonier was not only his biggest win, but it also brought him closer to realizing his title dreams as he made a super jump in the middleweight rankings.

The changes in the rankings keep coming as another UFC event gets wrapped up. However, on most occasions, there are only a few spot changes in the rankings, which wasn’t the case this time. The middleweight division has been shuffled, with new contenders rising and some veteran contenders falling off their previous spots.

Caio Borralho makes an incredible jump in the rankings

For starters, Sean Strickland is still your number-one contender for the middleweight title. However, it has been a bad change in the rankings for many middleweight fighters. Jack Hermansson is out of the top 10, with Paulo Costa and Brendan Allen going down by one spot. Also, its bad news for Jared Cannonier because he’s out of the top, and his spot has now been taken by Caio Borralho.

It was a long time coming, as most people would think, for Caio Borralho. ‘The Natural’ has been on an absolute tear, with 5 decision wins and a submission and KO each in the seven fights he’s had in the UFC besides the two Contender Series bouts. That led him to not just break into the top 10, but also the top five, and is slowly rattling and inching closer to the championship scene with each fight.

This news gives Dricus Du Plessis a new challenger as an option. He might have to watch for ‘The Natural’ as he poses the threat of toppling other fighters, including Sean Strickland, from their spots. While fighting Du Plessis is a longshot, for now, Borralho has another fighter in mind, who is already a legend.

‘The Natural’ is aiming for a fight against a former champion

Israel Adesanya‘s two consecutive losses have seemingly increased the confidence in Caio Borralho. While the Brazilian understands how good of a fighter ‘Izzy’ really is, he doesn’t think Adesanya is the “same focused guy he was before.” Given where he stands in the middleweight division now, Borralho believes him vs ‘The Last Stylebender’ is the fight to make and it’s the one he’s gunning for because a win over him will grant him a license to fight for the title.

“Maybe [Adesanya’s] not the same focused guy he was before, but he’s still the same guy with the same technique, skill and dominance… I think Adesanya might be the best fight for me right now. If I had to choose one more before the title, I think it would be Adesanya and then the title,” Caio Borralho told ‘Laerte Viana MMA’.
