UFC’s run in 2021 may have come to a close, but the promotion is actively working to build 2022’s card. The promotion has already booked a few massive matchups in the first quadrant of the year, which include matches like Ciryl Gane vs Francis Ngannou and Isreal Adesanya vs Robert Whittaker 2.

Moreover, the promotion has also apparently booked a grudge match between Maryna ‘The Iron Lady’ Moroz and Mariya ‘Demon Slayer’ Agapova.

The featherweight contenders were former teammates, but something went sour between the duo. The duo has been trading barbs at one another for the past few months, and the inevitable clash is finally going to take place. Few reports from within the community point at the fight being added to March’s card that will also feature Jessica Eye, and Edson Barboza.

What makes this UFC flyweight fight a serious grudge match?

Earlier in the year, Maryna Moroz accused her former teammates of making use of illicit drugs, among other things. Appearing in a Russian media outlet, Maryna made wild accusations about Agapova. The duo used to train out of an American Top Team facility located in Sunrise, Florida.

According to a report and translation from BJ Penn, Moroz accused her of slamming her car under the influence of illicit drugs and also stated that she was kicked out of the gym multiple times as well.

Naturally, these comments did not sit well with Mariya Agapova, who last competed inside the Octagon back in October. During the post-fight press conference, she fired back her former teammate and suggested that her accusations impacted her financial well-being.

” She is jealous. First she jealous. Second, she is sneaky, and she trying to destroy my career. I lost sponsorship because of her interview and got really big trouble situations, I would like to punish this b***h, because she trying to destroy my career. I wanna smash her.”

Agapov rubbished all the claims made by Moroz and now the two will finally get a chance to settle the score. Agapov has recently competed inside the octagon, but the same cannot be said for Moroz, who would be making her return to the cage after a 2-year lay-off.
