Will Max Holloway and Ilia Topuria finally clash? That’s what rumors indicate. After Holloway knocked out Gaethje at UFC 300, he called out ‘El Matador’ during his post-fight interview. They were also involved in many social media spats after Topuria blamed Holloway for delaying the fight. But now, strong rumors suggest that it is finally happening!

It seems Topuria versus Holloway could be scheduled for UFC 306. The event is arranged around the Mexican Independence Day on September 14th, 2024. The fight card is yet to be announced by the UFC, but Home Of Fight took to their Instagram account to share some excitement. In a now-deleted post, the caption read, “Ilia Topuria vs. Max Holloway has been revealed to take place at UFC 306, at the Sphere in Las Vegas.”

If this fight ends up happening, Dana White will be giving fans the fight they wanted to see. And it will be Topuria’s first title defense after he won it at UFC 298 against Alexander Volkanovski. It will be one of his biggest fights!

‘El Matador’ had been reluctant to give an opportunity to Holloway because of his age (32), and has openly criticized the BMF champion. He even accused ‘Blessed’ of delaying the fight, which pushed Holloway to respond. “Guy is just making things up at this stage, I been ready,” Holloway wrote on X.

If they finally lock horns in September, the featherweight title will be on the line. Topuria is yet to be defeated in his UFC career, whereas Holloway is on a three-fight win streak, with a 26-7 record. He also has a lot more experience than Topuria. Is that why Henry Cejudo feels Holloway can beat the 27-year-old?

Henry Cejudo feels Max Holloway can defeat ‘El Matador’ in their next clash

Ilia Topuria has striking ability but also possesses good wrestling skills. However, he has yet to face someone like Max Holloway in his career. Most experts feel Topuria is the favorite for the fight, but Henry Cejudo doesn’t quite feel the same. ‘Triple C’ took to his ‘Pound 4 Pound’ podcast to share some words of advice for ‘El Matador’.

Holloway is one of the most conditioned athletes in the UFC and his cardio is second to none. In his fights, he is relentless with his pressure, which might be a cause of concern for Topuria. Hence, Cejudo said, “If a guy like Ilia Topuria can not put out a guy like Max Holloway [who has] endurance, a gas tank, and now that he’s knocking people out senseless, Ilia Topuria could be in trouble.”

Holloway is not only capable of going the full distance but also has the power to knock people out. His previous performance against Gaethje demonstrated that. In fact, out of his 26 career wins, he won 12 fights via KO/TKO.

However, facing Ilia Topuria will be a challenge for the BMF title holder, too. He might get into trouble if the 27-year-old decides to wrestle him.
