“I want an exciting fighter like a Charles Oliveira,” said the former featherweight champion, Alexander Volkanovski when he was asked about his next potential fight. After his knockout loss against Ilia Topuria at UFC 298, Alexander Volkanovski wanted an immediate rematch. ‘El Matador’ even agreed with the re-match but the UFC top brass asked the Australian fighter to take a rest before endeavoring into the Octagon once again. Now that Volkanovski has taken his rest, he wants an exciting fight rather than sitting idle, and what better match than Charles Oliveira?

“Charles Oliveira, there’s a lot of exciting fights that I would love to do while I’m waiting as well. So yeah – just whatever excites me,” confessed Volkanovski in one of his conversations on the FreeStylebender podcast. This statement appears to have been taken seriously by Oliveira as his recent statement should put UFC head honcho, Dana White on high alert for a potential super-fight.

Charles Oliveira expresses interest in fighting Alexander Volkanovski

Both Charles Oliveira and Alexander Volkanovski are coming off losses and need to win their next fights. The former featherweight champion has fought twice in the lightweight division and both times he competed against the lightweight champion, Islam Makhachev for the title. Well, Volkanovski had to taste the taste of defeat both times but still, he is hell-bent on competing against the top brass of the lightweight division.

After his comments, Charles Oliveira acknowledged the situation and, in one of his latest statements, revealed that he has no problem with having a super fight against Alexander Volkanovski. “Why not? It would be a great honor. A great fighter, a great name. So why not?… Waiting to see what the UFC will bring for us,” said Oliveira through his Instagram handle as reported by Championship Rounds.

Dan Hooker willing to clash against Charles Oliveria after UFC 305 masterclass

Dan Hooker stunned the world when he defeated Mateusz Gamrot by way of a split decision at UFC 305. The fighter stepped inside the Octagon after a year of inactivity. Israel Adesanya had to vouch for his friend Dana White to include him in the fight card and he didn’t disappoint. Ahead of his fight against Gamrot, ‘Hangman’ confessed that a victory against his opponent would put him back in the title contention and it appears that’s exactly what has happened now.

Following his victory against Gamrot, Hooker met Hunter Campbell behind the scenes in the hotel lobby, and as per ‘Hangman’s confession, it appears that the UFC CBO wants to book a fight between Hooker and Oliveira in the near future, “Yeah, they want Charles, it’s a good fight but I mean there’s heaps of cool s*** I could do, the lay of the land is pretty crazy and it’s such a wild sport so we’ll see how it plays out. I couldn’t care less, [I want to fight] all of them bro – even Arman bro,” said Hooker.

The Kiwi star is currently riding a three-fight winning streak and his next win might help him get back to the title picture but will he be able to oust Charles Oliveira? State your thoughts in the comments below.
