Renato Moicano recently returned to the Octagon with a win. He defeated Drew Dober at UFC Vegas 85 via a unanimous decision, and subsequently proceeded to call out Paddy Pimblett for UFC 300. Following his UFC Vegas 85 win, Renato Moicano decided to tweet that Paddy Pimblett should fight Drew Dober next. However, ‘The Baddy’ replied on social media claiming that he did not need to fight Dober because he believed he could easily defeat the Brazilian.

This led to Moicano announcing that both he and Pimblett had agreed to fight and they could take over the main event at UFC 300. The MMA fans have already been left high on anticipation of the ordeal, and thus this declaration was quick to draw a myriad of reactions from the fans. The Brazilian lightweight star recently appeared on ‘The MMA Hour’ where he explained what led him to call out the rising English fighter.

When Ariel Helwani asked Renato Moicano why he decided to call out Paddy Pimblett on social media, the Brazilian replied by claiming that the UFC is protecting the English star. Hence, he decided to make a chess move and decided to draw out a reaction from ‘The Baddy’ by asking him to fight Drew Dober.

“The UFC’s protecting him… this is chess not checkers… Not everybody knows but if I over there and I say, ‘Hey Paddy Pimblett, I’m gonna beat you up’, everybody does that. So I say, I’m gonna make him get the bait… And then, he will have to fight me,” said Renato Moicano.

Renato Moicano claimed to have been successful in triggering Paddy Pimblett with his tweet. Given that ‘The Baddy’ responded and claimed to be able to be his Brazilian counterpart, Moicano believes that there is no way now for the UFC to protect him. He further stated, “He will have to fight me because go in my page and you say, ‘I will smoke you’, now the UFC cannot protect you because you put your name on the line.”

Moicano further went on to tell Pimblett that he could come to Brazil if he wanted to fight him. Regardless, in case ‘The Baddy’ doesn’t want to come to Brazil, Renato Moicano will gladly go to London and fight the Liverpudlian.

“If you want to fight in Brazil, I’m ready. But maybe you’re too afraid to go to Brazil. I get it. Brazil is a little bit dangerous, but I can fight you in London and in any place because you are easy money. I respect you but I will beat you,” ‘Money Moicano’ added. Now, let’s see what the fans had to say about this.

Fans weigh in on Moicano’s callout to ‘The Baddy’

The fans are excited to see a possible matchup between Renato Moicano and Paddy Pimblett. Although they think it could be a great lightweight bout between the two, they don’t believe it will be a good fit to headline UFC 300.

“No way that’s the main event fight for 300”

“For Main event this fight is too bored”

“fight to make… yes, 300 Main event??? naaaa”

Alternatively, many believe that Moicano vs. Pimblett is an excellent fight for a main card. Then again, some fans also mentioned that the UFC 300 card has a couple of lightweight bouts already. They may want to see some other weight-class fights.

Some objected to Paddy Pimblett’s admission into the main event since he was not yet ranked in the UFC. Meanwhile, another took a jibe at Renato Moicano, claiming that his post-fight interview was more interesting than his performance against Drew Dober.

“You must be joking about making this the main event. paddy ain’t even ranked yet and moicano is”

“Dude laid on drew, post fight interview was better than his fight performance”

Dana White has yet to announce the main event for UFC 300. But he’s already announced some great fights for the historic event. Hence, it seems unlikely that White will put a non-title fight in the main event. But then again, we will have to wait and see how the UFC CEO navigates the situation as we inch closer to the April 13th pay-per-view.
