Colby Covington versus Jorge Masvidal clashing at UFC 272 was a big fight. Everything about their fight was huge. This includes their dig at each other on social media, the pre-fight press conference, the actual fight, and everything post it.

During the bout, Covington accidentally poked Masvidal in the eye. Referee Herb Dean missed the foul. Their five-round war ended with ‘Chaos’ winning via a unanimous decision. Colby Covington’s wrestling and cardio seem to have paid off. However, their beef is still on.

Immediately after the fight was done, both the athletes were seen mocking each other. They soon started taking digs at each other on social media as well. ‘Gamebred’ took to Twitter to post a picture of his eye injury, which was the result of Covington poking his eye. The fighter wrote also called his rival a ‘cheating f**k’.

Covington, of course, hit back like he usually does. He shared a picture of Masvidal’s eye injury on his Instagram story, tagged Masvidal, and used a crying emoji. The story also featured ‘Cry Me a River’ song by Justin Timberlake. Therefore, it seems like the bout has intensified their issues.

It would be interesting to see if the promotion sets up a second fight for them. After all, their first fight was a massive hit.

What’s next for Colby Covington?

As reported by ‘MMA Fighting‘, UFC President Dana White is unsure about what’s next for either of the fighters. However, White said that he might talk to Covington regarding what he wants to do next. This is because so far, Kamaru Usman has successfully stopped him from becoming the welterweight champion.

Therefore, if Covington keeps winning fights, he could get a title shot once again.

As for Masvidal, the fighter recently signed a new contract with the UFC. According to an ESPN article, Masvidal’s agent revealed that the fighter will be paid like a champion. Further, he could also be one of the top-five paid UFC fighters on the roster.
