The #8 ranked Albazi faced the unranked Costa who has a win on Dana White’s Contender Series. The flyweight clash on UFC Fight Night: Cannonier vs. Strickland started rather slowly with both fighters trying to get a read on the other.

While Albazi kept making occasional takedown attempts, Costa threw leg kicks to keep his opponent in check. However, Albazi dropped the Brazilian Costa early in the second with a right cross. The Iraqi native dominated from the top position for the rest of the round to secure a dominant round 4.

The 29-year-old gained top position again in the third, but Costa got back to his feet earlier than in the second. Despite his urgency, he fell to a perfect uppercut from Albazi shortly after. Albazi followed Costa to the ground and finished the affair with a few more solid shots.

This also marked Albazi’s first win by knockout inside the octagon. He has now won five in a row with four of those under the UFC banner, making him a serious contender in the flyweight division.

Additionally, the fighter once also trolled Joe Rogan at UFC 278 by pretending to not speak English. While most fighters are starstruck upon meeting the commentator, Albazi decided to have some fun at Rogan’s expense.
