However, there are several top-rated contenders that can give a tough time to the champion. One of them is the fresh welterweight prospect, Shavkat Rakhmonov.

The Kazakhstan-born fighter made his UFC debut with a twelve-fight undefeated streak in 2020. Interestingly, ‘Nomad’ has competed in three UFC bouts and has won all via a finish.

Apparently, Rakhmonov’s rise in the promotion looks similar to what Chimaev showcased after his debut. Although he has a lot to do in his UFC career, ‘Nomad’ is already getting attention from the top-tier names, especially Chimaev’s bitter rival Gilbert Burns.

The former welterweight title challenger ‘Durinho’ recently lauded the fighter on his official Twitter account. In his tweet, he wrote, Man Shavkat is a beast! He deserves a lot hype! Wow 15 fights 15 finishes! @MmaSanford#UFCVegas47.”

‘Nomad’ is currently nowhere near the top of the division. However, ‘Borz’ has found his way close to the title scene with just four wins in his bag.

While the UFC faced difficulties in finding a viable opponent for the Russian-born fighter, the former title challenger Burns has chimed in his name.

Khamzat Chimaev vs Gilbert Burns in the making

‘Borz’ and ‘Durinho’ have been involved in a war of words ever since the Chechen fighter asked about his next bout. Interestingly, both the welterweight fighters have verbally agreed to fight.
