Colby Covington secured a remarkable win against his arch-rival Jorge Masvidal at UFC 272. The two fighters are bitter enemies now, although it is well known that at one point in time; they were good friends.

However, it may be surprising to learn that ‘Chaos’ also had a good equation with Dustin Poirier, currently a sworn enemy, as well.

Poirier congratulated Covington over his impressive win against Bryan Barberena via TKO, back in 2016. In response, the latter thanked and then congratulated him on the birth of his daughter. 

Although now, the relationship between the two has soured and after his win at UFC 272, Covington said, “I just took care of Miami street trash. Now it’s time to take care of Louisiana swamp trash. Where you at Dustin Poirier, you c–k. You said it’s on sight… Bring that je**bel of a wife and bring that little kid…You’re next.”

‘The Diamond’ has found a way to evade his mind from the trash-talking, which sprouts before fighting and focuses on his game.

Last year, even Conor McGregor took a dig at his wife. However, Poirier brushed it aside and focused on the task at hand, and claimed a victory.

Dustin Poirier replies to Colby Covington’s stint at UFC 272

‘Chaos’ has openly challenged the ‘Diamond’ for a welterweight bout after wrapping up Masvidal. Meanwhile, Poirier recently lost his second chance at the lightweight title. Although ‘The Diamond’ has not yet accepted Covington’s challenge, he replied to Chaos after his callout.

‘The Diamond’ called Covington a ‘Bombaclot!’ after Chaos wrapped up Masvidal with a unanimous decision win. It remains to be seen if Poirier gets drawn into a back and forth or remains composed as he did against the Irishman.

A fight between Dustin Poirier and Colby Covington will prove to be a showstopper. They both are big stars and their rivalry has come in the foreground. The question is who will win this grudge match, ‘The Diamond’ or ‘Chaos’?
